K9 Ghost Locates Firearm During Residential Disturbance

On November 30, 2024, SRPD officers responded to a residential disturbance. It was reported that a suspect brandished a firearm during an altercation within the residence. Patrol officers arrived and detained the suspect who was on felony probation. Through interviews, officers learned that a firearm had been discarded prior to officer arrival. Officer Gonzales deployed his partner, K-9 Ghost, who after searching the nearby area located the firearm which had been stashed in very thick foliage.

K-9 Ghost is a 3 year old Belgian Malinois who is trained in criminal apprehension and firearm detection. K-9 Ghost is the first dog in SRPD history to be attached to the SWAT team.
