On Friday, July 25, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., SRPD Officers assigned to the Special Enforcement Team (SET) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Santa Rosa Avenue and Yolonda Avenue. The officers recognized both subjects were criminal street gang participants and that one was on parole. Officer Gonzales and K9 Ghost responded to assist with the traffic stop.

During a search of the vehicle, K9 Ghost alerted to the front driver and passenger area as well as the dash near the A/C and radio controls. A search of the vehicle yielded a natural void space behind the A/C and radio controls which concealed a loaded, .40 caliber S&W M&P Shield pistol. The firearm was not registered to either subjects. SRPD Gang Crimes Team (GCT) detectives were contacted and responded to assist with the investigation.
Both suspects were arrested and booked for multiple firearms related charges and gang enhancements.
