On October 22, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., detectives with the Santa Rosa Police Department Gang Crimes Team (SRPD GCT) served a search warrant at a residence in the 2100 block of Naomi Place. GCT detectives had been investigating the resident for suspected possession of illegal firearms.
During the service of the search warrant, a short-barreled AR-15 style rifle and a 9mm privately manufactured firearm (commonly referred to as a “ghost gun”) were found. Ammunition for the 9mm handgun was also located.

The 38-year-old resident of the home, a convicted felon, is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.
The suspect was booked into the Sonoma county jail on numerous firearms related offenses.
The SRPD K-9 unit works closely with our Gang Crimes team to locate firearms and keep our community safe. The SRPD Gang Crimes Team was reinstated in December 2023, after a long absence fueled by staffing shortages. This team of four plainclothes detectives and a sergeant work to investigate gang-related offenses in Santa Rosa. The GCT has four key priorities: prevention, intervention, education, and enforcement. In 2024, the GCT recovered 82 illegal or illegally possessed firearms; seized four 3D printers used in the manufacturing of firearms; and made 30 referrals to the Violence Prevention Partnership, an organization dedicated to empowering all youth to reach their full potential and find safe pathways out of a gang lifestyle. GCT efforts have contributed to a significant reduction in violent crime. In 2024, Santa Rosa saw a 71% decrease in homicides and experienced zero gang-related homicides, where in 2023, half of all homicides had a connection to gang violence.
